Wedding Dress Trends 2027: The Bridal Fashion Week Edit
The silhouettes, fabrics and details that will shape your wedding dress shopping in 2027
New York Bridal Fashion Week has just wrapped, and the Fall 2027 collections tell us exactly what will be hanging in bridal boutiques by this time next year. Add what we saw at the Spring 2027 shows in April, and the picture for 2027 brides is clear: more romance, more structure and far more choice. If you’re getting married next year and starting your dress appointments, here’s what to know before you step into the fitting room.

The Wedding Dress Trends 2027 Brides Need to Know
Dropped and Basque Waists
If one silhouette defined the season, it was the lowered waist. Dropped and basque waistlines have been building for a few seasons, and for 2027 they appeared on almost every ballgown on the runway. Part of the inspiration is cinematic: the corseted, period-drama gowns of the new Wuthering Heights film fed straight into the Spring 2027 collections. The effect is long, lean and incredibly flattering through the torso.
The Ballgown Renaissance
Volume is back, in a big way. Designers turned up the drama with full skirts, voluminous tulle and heavy satins like Mikado, duchesse and taffeta that hold their shape beautifully. For the bride who has always dreamed of a fairytale entrance, 2027 is your year.

So Much Lace (and Lace with Satin)
Lace was everywhere this season, from allover lace gowns to long lace sleeves and high lace necklines. The fresh twist is that you no longer have to choose between lace and satin. Designers paired graphic lace bodices with fluid satin skirts, and layered lace borders over silk, for a look that feels romantic and modern at once.
Sheer Corsets and Sculptural Bodices
The corset hasn’t gone anywhere, but it has evolved. For 2027, expect sheer corsets with visible boning, sculpted bodices with folded, architectural necklines, and princess seams that contour and define the waist. It’s structure you can see, and it’s very chic.

One Dress, Two Looks
Versatility was one of the smartest ideas of the season. Sheer lace toppers, removable sleeves, capes and detachable overskirts mean you can wear one look for the ceremony and another for the party. One of our favourite tricks: a dramatic overskirt hiding a mini dress underneath, ready to be revealed when the dancing starts.
Pretty in Pink, and Beyond White
Pale pink was the colour of Fall 2027, appearing across several collections in soft, romantic shades. For brides who want to go further, there were champagne, bordeaux and even black gowns. If ivory isn’t you, there has never been a better time to break the rules.
Roses, Rosettes and Floating Flowers
Florals got the 3D treatment. Rose motifs and sculpted rosettes ranged from subtle tonal details to splashes of colour, while some designers suspended blooms between layers of tulle so they appear to float. Big bows at the back or hip also had a strong showing.
The ’90s Minimalist
Not every 2027 bride wants volume. The other big story of the year is a sleek, ’90s-inspired minimalism, with plunging satin slips, clean strapless necklines and open backs that nod to Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s famously pared-back wedding look. Understated, yes, but never boring.
Plunging Necklines and Thigh-High Slits
For the bride with a little daring, low, plunging necklines and high leg slits brought a sexy, red-carpet edge to many collections.
Bridal Separates and Trousers
Bridal trousers, tailored suits and two-piece sets continued to grow, offering a polished alternative for brides who’d rather not wear a dress at all, or who want a second outfit for the evening.
A New Take on the Veil
The cathedral veil isn’t going anywhere, but 2027 brides have fresh alternatives. Think floral veils, Juliet caps, pearl hoods, statement capes and playful, fashion-forward “party veils” for the reception.
Shopping for Your 2027 Wedding Dress
Bridal collections shown at Fashion Week usually reach boutiques around a year later, so the Fall 2027 gowns will start arriving in stores in autumn 2026 and through 2027. If you have your heart set on a particular designer, ask your boutique when their new collection lands, and allow plenty of time for ordering and alterations.
Whether you’re drawn to a dramatic drop-waist ballgown or a sleek ’90s slip, 2027 has a bridal style for every bride. Trust your instincts, embrace your individuality, and say “I do” in a dress that feels completely like you.
